Odd facts that nobody really cares about.

  • Did you know that the ‘com’ in .com stands for commercial? i didn’t know that i thought it stood for computer or community.
  • WD-40 literally stands for Water Displacement, 40th attempt. That’s the name straight out of the lab book used by the chemist who developed WD-40 back in 1953. The chemist, Norm Larsen, was attempting to concoct a formula to prevent corrosion — a task which is done by displacing water. Norm’s persistence paid off when he perfected the formula on his 40th try.
  • Apple.com was registered 4 years before Microsoft.com
  • Mosquito repellents don’t repel. They hide you. The spray blocks the mosquito’s sensors so they don’t know you’re there.
  • The liquid inside young coconuts can be used as substitute for blood plasma.
  • Dentists have recommended that a toothbrush be kept at least 6 feet away from a toilet avoid airborne particles resulting from the flush.
  • The first owner of the Marlboro company died of lung cancer.
